Elwani
supports Sudan Volleyball Development
programme
Khartoum, Sudan, April 8, 2007-: In the
framework of Sudan Volleyball Federation
Development Programme under supervision of
the president of the federation Kamal Khir
Allah, CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani had a
fruitful meeting with the big sports
authority in Sudan led by the Federal sports
youth and Cultural Minster Mohamed Youssef
Abdallah during zone 5 qualifications to All
Africa Games in Khartoum, Sudan. Dr. Ewani
expressed his happiness to the minister for
what he saw in Sudan in terms of volleyball
development in the local competitions and in
the FIVB Development centre which could put
Sudan in good position in the continental
volleyball competitions.
The minister showed CAVB president the
efforts they did to establish a new indoor
hall to be ready to host the big continental
competitions as will as increasing the
technical and financial support to the
Sudanese teams to allow the regular
participation in all volleyball
championships wither at the club or national
team levels.
Elwani promised the minister to give Sudan
the honor of hosting a big CAVB volleyball
event in 2008 event to be held in the newly
established hall in Khartoum most probably
the Men's Under 21 African Nations
Championship which qualifies to the FIVB
World Championship of this age category.
The Sudanese minister also showed CAVB
President the big value of volleyball as a
tool of peace when the National federation
organized a big competition in Darfour in
the occasion of peace agreement their in
2006 and their decision to make this
competition as an annual celebrations
through a volleyball competition.
"I'm very happy to meet the Federal Minster
as I saw how he is interested to make
volleyball as a great sport in this very
important area," Said Elwani. "I'm happy
also for the good organization Sudan showed
during zone 5 qualifications and gives an
example on how can the zones start active
competitions as we decided during the last
CAVB congress." He added
