RD Congo continues the
surprises and takes over the organizers
Durban,
South Africa, March 5, 2010- With a steady and brave performance
RD Congo clinched a critical victory over the host team South
Africa in the second day of the Boys Youth Olympic Games African
Qualifications at the Durban University of Technology’s Fred
Crookes Sport Centre in Durban, South Africa on Thursday.
Morocco secured their first victory over Liberia in a thriller
five set match lasting for two hours.

he first Open Beach Volleyball
Championship in Cote d’Ivoire ends successfully
Abidjan,
Cote d’Ivoire, February 23, 2010- The Cote d’Ivoire Volleyball
Federation (FIVVB) organized successfully the first open Beach
volleyball tournament at Aleria route de Bassam 30 Kilometers
from Abidjan by the Atlantic Ocean.
The competition showed 16 teams competing for the men’s title
and another 16 teams for the women’s category that played in a
knock out system. The final of the women’s competition showed
Les Anges (composing of Yeboue Affoué Ange- Augustine and Kanene
Veronique) and Owlave (Kablan Marcia Pereira and Abekan Larissa)
teams competing for the gold medal. Owlave team won the final
2-0 to win the gold. |
New Board elected in
Benin Volleyball Federation
Cotonou,
Benin, February 18, 2010- The General Assembly of the Benin
Volleyball Federation (FBVB) held its ordinary meeting in the
Benin capital of Cotonou where they elected the board of
administration for a new mandate of 4 years. The treasurer of
the board of the last mandate Mr. Didier Aplogan was elected
president of FBVB till 2014 as a successor of the last president
Mr. Dominique Atchawé who spent two mandates at the head of the

FIVB
supports CAVB Beach volleyball new strategy
Cairo,
Egypt, February 17, 2010- In the framework of the FIVB strategy
to establish Beach volleyball fully professional department in
all the continental confederations, the FIVB Beach volleyball
Director Mr. Angelo Squeo visited the African Volleyball
Confederation (CAVB) Headquarters for a meeting to establish the
newly formed Beach Volleyball Department that fulfill the FIVB
requirements to implement the prolonged plan of the volleyball
world governing body to widespread the sport all over the
continent.

5 African teams compete for the biggest ever competition
Cairo, Egypt, February 9, 2010- Five African clubs will be
presented to compete for the 28th Men’s Arab Club Championship
to be held in Cairo 23rd of February to 4th of march. The
competition will feature a record of 19 clubs with a majority
from the Asian side of the Arab countries constituting 14 clubs
against five from the African side.
The drawing of lots was held in the Egyptian Olympic Committee
Hall on Monday dividing the 19 teams to 4 preliminary pools in
presence of Ali El Sergany, the Egyptian volleyball federation
president.

CAVB Vice- President Baba Sy passed
away
Cairo,
Egypt, February 8, 2010- The African volleyball
Confederation (CAVB) lost one of the great pillars of
volleyball all over the world after the CAVB Vice-
President Mr. Baba Sy passed away in the capital of
Senegal in Dakar on Monday after a long fight with the
illness during the last two years.
Baba Sy who is also a member of the FIVB coaching
commission was one of the major anchors of the
development of the sport not only in Africa but also in
most of the world continents through his participation
in the world wide courses. He sincerely cared about the
welfare and the development of the game and never ceased
to offer the best of his expertise and effort and time
towards its growth. |

The African League is
a new revolution for CAVB in 2010
Cairo,
Egypt, December 15, 2009- The African Volleyball
Confederation (CAVB) Sports Organizing committee will
start an important meeting in the CAVB Headquarters in
Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday for an important mission to
implement the new African competition system that had
been adopted during the 2009 CAVB Congress in Algeria
last September.

Proposals of
the African League and the new formula of African competitions
Cairo, Egypt, December 18, 2009- The
African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Sports Organizing
committee put many fruitful proposals in front of the CAVB
executive committee to start a new era of the African
championships starting from 2010 according to the decisions that
had been adopted during the 2009 CAVB Congress in Algeria last
September.

Disappointing final for the
host team as Botswana clubs win both genders
Durban, South Africa, December 9-The
weeklong African Zone 6 Club Championship ended in
disappointment for the South African teams when they went down
in the final to Botswana’s Kutlwano men and women’s teams at the
Durban University of Technology’s Fred Crookes Sport Centre over
the weekend. |
