2008 Men’s African Clubs Champions Championship- Misurata, Libya

Zamalek defeats Al Ahly and sets their third cup Final
Misurata, Libya, April 18, 2008- Zamalek of Egypt achieved the trophy of the 27th African Clubs Champions Championship following their valuable victory over their arc rivals Al Ahly in the final of the competition held here at Misurata, Libya on Friday. The big favorites since the start of the competition played a great match led by the skillful setter Ashraf Aboul Hassan and succeeded to set their third victory in the history of the competition and the first since 1987. Al Ahly, the record holder of the number of trophies of this competition with 8 cups failed to achieve their seventh due to the imbalance happened to many key stars. Esperance of Tunisia achieved the bronze medal after their win over the organizers Swehli of Libya



         

   


Niamey the capital of West African Beach Volleyball 
Niamey, Niger, May 14, 2008
- Niger Volleyball Federation FENIVOLLEY succeeded to increase the beach volleyball popularity at the western part of the continent after they organized the first international Beach volleyball tournament last month with the participation of the best teams in the western African countries.
Five countries took part in the first ever big tournament in this African zone which are the organizers Niger, Benin, Togo, Mali, and Burkina Faso.
The competition was attended by a big number of Niger political and sports authorities led by the Minister of Interior Mr. Albade Abouba and the Minister of Sports and youth Mr. Abdrahamane Seydou who send their greetings to the FENIVOLLEY member and their president Amada Sidiyane who did a lot of work for the success of this competition.

 


2008 CAVB Commission meeting
Amendments in the competition regulations and establishing zonal qualifications for all CAVB competitions
Cairo, Egypt, - The CAVB sports Organization Committee (SOC) put the new CAVB competition regulations that will help to improve the African Championships according to the approval of the 2007 CAVB Congress. The meeting held at CAVB headquarters in Cairo, Egypt was attended by the major CAVB Board and commission members led by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani and CAVB vice president Tubby Reddy.
