11 teams registered
with all the big forces present
Cairo,
Egypt, August 8, 2008- A record of 11 teams were
registered to participate in the thirteenth Men’s Junior
African Nations Championship to be held 23 to 30 August
at Palais des Sports El Menzah in Tunis, Tunisia with
all the major continental forces present competing for a
Men’s Junior World Championship vacancy.
The defending champions of the last competition in
Morocco 2006 Egypt will be a big team to compete with
three previous titles under their built. They had a
preparation camp in England under supervision of their
coach Emad Nawar where they played four matches and then
continued their preparation in a local camp in Cairo.
The last two competitions silver medalists Tunisia also
comes as big favorites with their promising team full of
talent players. They had the record of winning this
competition with seven titles.
The 2004 champions and the 2006 bronze medalists,
Morocco prepared well in a camp in Russia with a new
generation that attracts the interest of Morocco
volleyball federation aiming to build up a new team able
to compete at the continental and international levels
specially after they organized the 2007 World
Championship of this age category.
The two times champions Algeria is considered also one
of the main forces with their good results in all age
category competitions in the last few years.
Other registered teams are South Africa, Mali, Benin, RD
Congo, Cameroon, Botswana and Nigeria.
