Day 3

Tunisia edges Egypt in a classic final

Tunis, Tunisia, December 30, 2008- The defending champions and organizers Tunisia added the third title in this year's age category championship after the won the ninth Girls Youth African Nations Championship following their victory over Egypt in a classic North African final at Sidi Bousaid Hall in the Tunisian capital of Tunis on Tuesday. The victory put Tunisia at the top of the round robin competition to secure a 2009 Girls Youth FIVB World Championship. Egypt finished second with a win loss record of 1-1 while Algeria finished third.

The Tunisian girls rebounded back from one set behind to edge e Egypt 3-1 (17-25, 30-28, 25-19, 25-19) in 106 minutes. Egypt started the match with their best performance to win the first set widely, and then they led many times in the second set before losing in the longest competition set 30-28. The Tunisian team team's spirit rose to the utmost to win the third and the fourth sets and the match 3-1.
Day 2
Tunisia downs Algeria in straight sets
 Tunis, Tunisia, December 29, 2008- The defending champions and organizers Tunisia set their first victory over Algeria in straight sets in the second day of the ninth Girls Youth African Nations Championship at Sidi Bousaid Hall in the Tunisian capital of Tunis on Monday. The victory put Tunisia at the top of the round robin competition with Egypt who achieved the same victory yesterday, while Algeria finished their matches at the bottom of the table with a win- loss ratio of 0-2.
 The competition will be finalized on Tuesday when Tunisia meets Egypt in a North African classic final. The winner will secure a 2009 World Championship slot of this age category.
 The Tunisian girls were the better side all through the match with their better skills in attacks and defense that allowed them to clinch an easy victory 3-0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-19) in 64 minutes.
This competition is the fourth and the last of all the age group championship qualifying to the next year’s FIVB World Championships after Tunisia and Egypt Men’s youth teams, Egypt Women’s youth and Tunisia boys secured their vacancies before in their corresponding competitions.

 Day 1

Egypt edges Algeria in the opening

 Tunis, Tunisia, December 28, 2008- The last competition runner up Egypt clinched an important victory over Algeria in the opening match of the ninth Girls Youth African Nations Championship at Sidi Bousaid Hall in the Tunisian capital of Tunis on Sunday. The straight sets victory put Egypt at the top of the table of the round robin competition which features also the organizers Tunisia. The Tunisian team will start their matches against Algeria on Tuesday.

 The Egyptian girls controlled the net action and the backline defense to edge Algeria 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-22) in almost an hour.

The competition is the last between all the age group championship qualifying to the       next year’s FIVB World Championships after Tunisia and Egypt Men’s youth teams, Egypt Women’s youth and Tunisia boys the last qualifiers last week.

3 teams compete for a World Championship slot
 Tunis, Tunisia, December 27, 2008- Three African teams will compete for a World Championship slot when they start the competition in the ninth Girls Youth African Nations Championship at Sidi Bousaid Hall in the Tunisian capital of Tunis on Sunday. The competition will be the last between all the age group championship qualifying to the next year’s World Championships after Tunisia and Egypt Men’s youth trams, Egypt Women’s youth and Tunisia boys the last qualifiers last week. 
 The three teams are the Organizers and defending champions Tunisia as well as Egypt and Algeria.
 The opening day of the competition will show a strong encounter between Egypt and Algeria while the second day on Monday will feature Tunisia vs. Egypt. The round robin competition will be finalized by a big face of between Egypt and Tunisia on Tuesday.
The competition rescheduled 28-31 December in Tunisia

Cairo, Egypt, October 29, 2008- The African volleyball confederation (CAVB) rescheduled the 2008 Girls Youth African Nations Championship for the players, born on 1st of January 1992 or after to be held 28-31 December 2008.

The competition which was supposed to be held in Tunisia from 18-26 September 2008, and has been postponed because of scholar circumstances will be qualifying to the 2009 FIVB Girls Youth World Championship in Mexico.

According to the last FIVB Board of Administration decision, Africa granted two vacancies at the forthcoming World Championship in stead of only one slot in the 2006 World Championship.

The e increased number of African teams in the FIVB age group competitions is considered as a big support from the World volleyball governing body as Africa had already now 8 places in the next year World age category championship.
