2006 Women's World Championship- Kenya
Five countries compete for the last African slot
Nairobi, Kenya, July 19-: Five African teams will compete for the final women's African slot in 2006 World Championship in Japan when they compete together in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, Wednesday in the first round African Pool B qualification tournament. Algeria (ranked 37 in the FIVB world Ranking), RD Congo (No Ranking), Eritrea (No Ranking), Congo Brazzaville (55) will join the Hosts Kenya the second best African team in the FIVB ranking (20) in the competition which will start with 2 matches Wednesday when Kenya meets RD Congo and Algeria Play Congo Brazzaville which didn't arrive till Tuesday evening.
The Main Kenya TV Channel, Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC) as well as seven Radio channels will cover the event in a country where Women Volleyball is considered one of the most popular sports.
The host team wants to be the third African qualifier from Africa to the prestigious Japan finals in 2006, But the matter will not be easy for Kenya in presence of the new emerging teams specially Algeria which is coming as the second favorite for the third Vacancy
