Nigeria defeated Botswana in the
Opening Abuja, Nigeria, September 8-: The organizer, Nigeria defeated Botswana in straight sets in the opening match of the fifteenth Women's African Nations' Championship here in Abuja, Nigeria in front of huge home spectators attendance. The more experienced Nigerian team found it easy to pull off the victory in only 59 minutes (25-18, 25-19, 25-21). The emerging Botswana team was competitive in the thirds set when they came near the organizers but again Nigeria supported by their excited spectators ended the match. The minister of sports attended the opening ceremony with big Nigerian sports people and members of Nigerian volleyball federation headed by the President Habu Gumel. |
