2005 Women's African Nations Championship:

The host team against the defending champions in a big show

Abuja, Nigeria, September 12-: The fifteenth Women's African Nations Championship in Abuja enters the semi final stage on Monday as the host country, Nigeria take on the defending champions, Egypt in a crucial match to decide who makes it the final coming up on Wednesday. The emerging Tunisian team meets the last competition runner up Kenya in the other semifinal.
The Nigerian team who gathered all the maximum points in the Group A after winning all their matches qualified to play in the runners up of Group B to determine the finalists.
Looking forward to today's match between Nigeria and Egypt, one would agree it is going to be a revenge mission for the North Africans who lost 0-3 to host Nigeria two weeks ago during the 1st edition of the International Gala Championship held at the same venue.
After their 3-0 defeat by Nigeria, during the Gala, the Egyptian pro, Toson Tahani blamed the defeat on poor officiating and hot weather, saying "their next meeting at the Nations Cup would be a different ball game.
It is in the light of the above boast that one would be looking at today's match between Nigeria and Egypt, as both teams have both integrity and honor.
But Coach Terry Hakka of Nigeria says," he has the players like Priscillia Agera, Dorothy Egbum, Esther Dusu, Christy Amadi and Ladi Jalmet to win the match and move to the finals."
Also in the second semi final Group B leader and African Olympic representatives, Kenya will take on Group A Runners Up, Tunisia to determine second finalist.
The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation(NVBF), Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel has praised the participating teams at the 15th African Women Nations Cup Volleyball Championship for their determination to be part of the event.
