DAY ONE
ALGERIA HAD THE FIRST VICTORY
NIGERIA WITHDRAW FROM THE OPENING MATCH
Tunis, January 5-:
Algeria started its way positively in the opening match of the
African Olympic Qualification here in Tunisia after getting a
victory over the new emerging South Africa. Nigeria team didn't
reach to Tunisia as their flight from their homelands was
delayed and only three abroad professional reached and so they
didn't play their opening match against the hosts, Tunisia.
The organizing committee will take the final decision about this
Tuesday January 6, as it's scheduled for their second match
against Egypt.
In the opening match Algeria clinched 3-1 victory over the
promising South African team (22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22). South
Africa used the starting fever to win the first set 25-22 after
good net performance. Algeria regained the rhythm from the
second set onwards to win three successive sets and get the
first victory.
The second day, Tuesday will show two matches as Nigeria will
meet Egypt if their delay of Nigerian team was accepted by the
organizing committee, while Algeria will meet Tunisia in one of
the most important matches of the qualification as it will
determine the situation of top places.
