OF LOTS:
EGYPT AND CAMEROON MEN IN EARLY CRUCIAL CLASH
NIGERIA WOMEN IN EASY POOL
Abuja, Nigeria October 10-: Egypt men team will face an early
crucial clash in the opening match of the volleyball competition
of the eighth All Africa Games here in Abuja, Nigeria, while the
host team will play Senegal in a tough match. The women drawing
of lots put the most favorite teams in one pool leaving the
organizers in the weaker side.
In the men's draw Nigeria was put as a head of Pool A with
Algeria, Senegal, Ghana and South Africa. Cameroon, the previous
champions and the bronze medalist in the last African Nations
Championship was put as a head of Pool B with the most favorite
Egypt, Botswana, Rwanda and Seychelles.
In women's draw the hosts were put as a head of Pool A with
Ghana, Cameroon and Seychelles in a weaker group. Kenya, the
previous Champions were put in a tough pool with Egypt the
champion of the last African Nations Championship, Algeria the
fourth of the last competition, South Africa and Mozambique.
The first round will be held in five successive days 11- 15
October leaving 16 as a rest day before the first two of each
pool in both men and women competitions qualify to the semifinal
which was dated 17, then the final and third place matches will
be held in October 18 which coincides with the day of closure
ceremony of the games.
Egyptian women coach, Hesham Badrawy who won with his team the
last African Nations Championship and will represent Africa in
the next World Cup in Japan quoted that the draw was very tough
with his team in a strong battle with both Kenya and Algeria for
two places only in the semifinal leaving much weak teams in the
other Pool which is not fair.
Nigeria men's coach Suraj Onatuga thought that the draw will
pave the way for host team qualification to the semifinal, but
the difficulty will start in this stage when meeting the
favorites Egypt and Cameroon.

12:00: Algeria vs. Egypt- Women
13:30: Algeria vs. South Africa- Men
15:00: Rwanda vs. Seychelles- Men
16:30: Nigeria vs. Senegal- Men
18:00: Egypt vs. Cameroon- Men
