AFRICAN GALA CHAMPIONSHIP-THIRD AND LAST DAY 
RUSSIA WON THE CUP, PORTUGAL DEFEATED EGYPT
Russia won the first ever African Gala Championship in the city of Abuja- Nigeria , winning the third match in row against Nigeria 3/1 (23/25-25/20-25/19-25/21) in the third and final day of the competition. Portugal defeated Egypt 3/0 (27/25-25/19-25/23) to occupy the second place leaving the African teams Egypt and Nigeria third and fourth respectively.

AFRICAN GALA CHAMPIONSHIP - SECOND DAY 
RUSSIA GOT SECOND WIN- EGYPT REGAIN PERFORMANCE
Russia got the second win in the first African Gala Championship held in Abuja-Nigeria, defeating Portugal 3/0 (30/28-25/22-25/16) in the second day to lead the teams by four points. Egypt team regained performance after losing in the first day to defeat Nigeria in straight sets 3/0 (26/24-25/17-26/24) to proceed to the second place, leaving the Nigerian team in the last position.

AFTER GREAT EFFORTS OF FIVB AND CAVB:
AFRICAN GALA CHAMPIONSHIP IN ACTION
After many years of trials to establish an Afro-European competition, the first ever African Gala Championship will start today 18th July in Abuja-Nigeria in presence of two African teams, Egypt and the hosts Nigeria and two European teams, Russia and Portugal. The first Nigerian Lady, Chief Mrs. Stella Dbasanjo, the wife of Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo will attend the opening ceremony as an Honour presedent of the competition.
