TUNISIA- EGYPT
The final was very exciting as the Tunisian team played with a
high spirit to overcome losing the opening match against Egypt
in the preliminary Group A 3-1. They were more fighters than the
Egyptian all through the match so they lead the match from the
first set using the talented stars specially the spiker
Noureddine Hfaiedh who was chosen as the best player in the
competition and Ghazi Guidara the best setter. Egypt team aided
by the energetic spectators led the first few points of the
match till 4-1 when Tunisia started leading till the end of the
set 25-19 due to the activity of Noureddine and the perfect
blocker Chaker Ghazal. In the second set, the Egyptian coach
used the line up which defeated Cameroon in the semifinal after
the low performance of the Ayman Roshdy and the setter Ashraf
Aboul Hassan. Egypt led again 8-7 in the first technical
time-out by the activity of the best spiker in the championship
Hamdy El-Safy, But again the Tunisian players were in their
optimum performance to win the set narrowly 26-24. Egyptian
players felt the danger late and tried to save their hope in the
third set to lead 8-7 then Tunisia draw 17-17 and continued
their balanced attacking and defense to win the set 27-25 and
the match to gain the cup.
In the third place match between the last champions, Cameroon
