A Major Press Conference
for CAVB President in Kenya
FIVB support to Africa and Congratulation to Kenya the
Main Titles
Nairobi, Kenya,
September 25-: CAVB President Dr.
Amr Elwani will hold a major press conference on Monday
September 26 at the Stanley Hotel from 11.00 am in the
Kenyan
Capital of Nairobi in his African tour before the CAVB
Congress to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt 1-2
October 2005.
Dr. Elwani's visit to Kenya will among other things to
congratulate Kenya for winning two big continental
competitions in women category; 2006 African World
Championship qualification in Nairobi in July 2005 and
the 15th African Nations Championship in Abuja, Nigeria
early this month. He will also declare in his speech the
great FIVB support to Africa generally and Kenya
specifically in the last few years so as to allow the
volleyball in the continent to jump towards the World
level.
"We appreciate the efforts of the FIVB and its president
Dr. Ruben Acosta to help Africa and we owe much to this
in our progress towards the World level" Said Elwani
before departure to Kenya. "Thanks to the FIVB strategy
Kenya becomes now one of the top teams in the
continental and international level in Women Volleyball
being the continental representative in all the major
competitions including the World Championship in 2002
and 2006, Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 and in Athens
2004 and World Cup in 2007." He added.
Kenya Volleyball Federation President Mr. Ibrahim Efumbi
invited all the big media in the region and the press
Agencies to attend the press conference which will be
the first for CAVB President in Kenya. The Kenyan TV
will also cover the event with most of the Radio
channels with some of the big guests including the
Egyptian ambassador in Kenya, the Kenyan Commissioner
for sport, Mr. Gordon Oluoch and Chairman of Kenya
sports Council, Mr. Joshua Okuthe.
"We are happy to welcome the CAVB President in Kenya
after our great victories in the last few months" Said
Kenya Volleyball Federation Secretary General, Jacob
Owiti. "We thank him for his visit and his continuous
support for Kenya under the umbrella of the World
governing Body, FIVB" He added.
