Solidarity Tournament in Togo
Benin
Men defeated the Organizers
Lome, Togo, December 21-: Benin volleyball men team
defeated the organizers Togo 3-2 in the opening of the
ninth Solidarity Tournament which is held every year in
a western African Country with French support and under
supervision of FIVB in Omnisport Stadium in Togo capital
of Lome.
The five setters match (26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 19-25,
15-9) was very exciting and full of modern volleyball
and attracted the spectators.
In Women’s competition the reverse occurred as Togo
defeated Benin 3-1 (26-28, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18).
It was supposed that five teams from west Africa to
participate in both men and women’s competitions but the
last minute withdraw of both Mali and Niger kept only
three teams in each category; Benin, Burkina Faso and
Togo. |
