23rd Arab Cup of Clubs’ Champions- final:
Al-Ahly won the cup and continued records
Cairo, Egypt, January 15-: Al-Ahly of Egypt continued
its records to win the eighth competition locally and
internationally in raw in two years when they won
Saturday the 23rd Arab Cup of Clubs’ Champions defeating
Helal of Saudi Arabia in the final 3-0 (25-15,
25-19-25-19).
Al-Ahly won both local competitions League and Egyptian
cup in the last two years as well as the African Cup of
Clubs’ Champions and Arab Cup of Clubs Champions in the
last two years.
The final match was shorter than expected ending only in
64 minutes. The young promising players Ahmed Salah and
Mahmoud El-Komy played the most important role of the
victory with their efficient spikes in front of the
solid Helal block which appeared too peneratable against
the two big guns. El Komy started the match with a group
of efficient spikes which increased the point deficit
from the start to win the first set 25-15. the second
set showed some risitance from helal till the second
technical time out when Ahmed Salah used the talent
setting of the experienced setter Maged Mostafa to win
the set 25-19.
The third set showed again complete predominance of the
net actions for Ahly to win also 25-19.
In a pure Qatar confrontation Arabi defeated their Arch
rivals Rayan 3-1 ( 25-20, 25-22, 32-34, 25-17) in 91
minutes.
