14th AFRICAN WOMEN'S NATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP-SECOND DAY
EGYPT DEFEATED KENYA IN EARLY FINAL
Nairobi-Kenya, August 17-: Superstar Tahani Tosson of
Egypt led here team to pull off the favorite host team,
Kenya in the most exciting match of the second day of
the African Women's Nations Championship in presence of
more than 6000 spectators to lead Group A. The match was
the first in the tournament to be prolonged to tie break
as Egypt won 3-2 (25-15, 27-25, 12-25, 23-25, 16-14).
Tunisia achieved the first win over RD Congo 3-0 (25-16,
25-22, 25-10) after losing the first match to Egypt.
Egyptian team raised its points to four by two
successive wins followed by Kenya three points leading
by set average over Tunisia, then came RD Congo by 2
points.
In Group B both Algeria and Cameroon achieved the second
win in raw to lead the group by four points. Algeria
clinched a 3-1 win over Seychelles (25-18, 25-18, 19-25,
25-19), and in the same result Cameroon rolled off the
promising Senegal team 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19).
In presence of the biggest number of Audiences in
Kasarani hall it was the most exciting game between the
biggest two team in history of the African women
volleyball in what is described as an early final of the
competition but the best spiker in Africa in the last 10
years Tahani played a historical game specially in the
final set as Egypt was behind 12-14 to score 4
successive points to win 16-14. Violet Braza the Kenyan
professional player was one of the most prominent stars
of the match.
Cameroon team insured its picture as one of the favorite
for the cup with its new emerging team specially the
spiker Rose. Senegal Team although losing both matches
in the championship, they were very impressive by its
young players specially Diouca Fatou.

1st DAY: GROUP A; Egypt- Tunisia 3-0 (29-27, 25-18,
25-21)
Kenya- RD Congo 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-15)
GROUP B; Algeria- Senegal 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-10)
Cameroon- Seychelles (25-13, 25-18, 25-20)
