Cuba Defeated Egypt for the second time in Straight sets
Cairo, Egypt, July 1, 2007-: Cuba used all their weapons in blocking and spiking to clinch their second victory over Egypt in straight sets 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 in the sixth and last weekend of the intercontinental round pool C at Cairo Stadium Complex in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday. Cuba dominated the net through the tall middle blocker, who were superior in all actions and controlled completely the Egyptian attackers. For the second time Egyptian players couldn’t go through the match except some time in the first set and the end of the third set as most of the key players were out of form. Cuba raised their points to 19 points form a win loss ratio of 7-5 at the end of the intercontinental round, while Egypt kept their position at the bottom of the pool with 12 points.
The Egyptian coach changed some players in the starting line up as he pushed Mohamed Abdel Moniem as a wing spiker with the team captain Hamdy El Safi while Mohamed Gabal started in the opposite position instead of Ahmed Salah who appeared in bad performance in the first match on Friday with the Italian based professional setter Abdalla Abdel Salam, the middle blockers Mohamed El Sayed and Hossam Shaarawy, and the libero Wael El Aidy. Cuba coach also changed some of the outstanding player and started with line up including the libero Keibir Gutierrez who was as usual one of the match stars, the setter Tomas Aldazabal with Michael Sanchez, Roberlandy Simon, Rolando Jurquin, Pedro Iznaga and Pavel Pimienta.
Egypt hopes to finish their World League carrier with a victory against Cuba
Cairo, Egypt, June 30, 2007-: Egypt men’s volleyball team seeks the first victory in their World League carrier in the final match of the 2007 edition against Cuba on Sunday in their second m,atch of the sith and final weekend of the intercontinental round Pool C at Cairo Stadium complex hall in Cairo, Egypt. The match will be more important for the Cuban team who succeeded with their well known effective block to secure a straight sets victory in the first match on Friday.

Wants to obscure his disappointment of losing all the competition matches till now, the Egyptian coach Ahmed Zakaria, who took over the responsibility only before the last weekend following the polish coach Grzegorz Rys, insisted that the most important value of the World League matches is to use it as a preparation to the condensed African season in 2007. “We can’t have better than this preparation with these world class teams like Russia, Cuna and Serbia before defending our gold Medal in All Africa Games in Algeria after two weeks and also defending our title in the African Nations Championship achieved in 2005,” Said Zakaria. “Unfortunately my team started to enter the top form by the end of the preliminary round because we started the preparations very late, but we will try to bring our first ever victory over Cuba in the last match because it will be psychologically very important for us before the African competitions.” He added.

The Cuba head coach Orlando Samuel finds the match as a very important game as he seeks a victory that allow his team to end the pool matches in the second position following Russia and ahead of their big competitors Serbia. “We want to use our solid block again in the second match as a big weapon for the victory.” Samuel said.
