Egypt head to Cuba to start
their 2007 World League programme

Egypt, May 22- 2007-: The Egyptian Volleyball National team will
leave Cairo on Tuesday evening head to Cuba for their first
weekend of the 2007 World League when both team meet on May 25
and 26 in Havana. The Polish Head coach of Egypt selected the
squad just one day before departure to give all the list of
players the chance till the last minutes specially after the
absence of three main stars due different reasons.
The Egyptian squad for the first Weekend in the prestigious
World League includes many experienced players led by the team
captain and the setter Ashraf Aboul Hassan who was one of the
setters in the last 2006 World Championship in Japan and the
libero Wael El Aidy who presented his country in three big FIVB
World championships and cups. The new look team includes also
the tall centers Hossam Shaarawy and Mohamed El Sayed and also
the strong left attacker Saleh Fathy who were in the World
Championship squad.
On the other Hand the new team includes some young players like
the efficient opposite Mohamed El Daabosy who will represent the
Egyptian Junior team in the 2007 Men's Junior Championship in
Morocco in July. The other young players are Ali Elian and
Mohamed Seif El Nasr.
The Egyptian team will leave Cuba after the first weekend
directly to Serbia to play their second weekend matches against
Serbia in June 1 and 2.
The Egyptian team will lose three main stars in the first
weekend including the experienced team captain Hamdy El Safy who
is involved now with the end year exams as well as the Italian
based main setter Abdalla Abdel Salam who has some matches with
his team Treviso in the Italian league and the Right attacker
Ahmed Salah who will join the team in the second weekend against
Serbia after ending his short contract with Al Jazera team in
United Arab Emirates.
Egypt squad includes: Ashraf Aboul Hassan, Mohamed Abdel Rahman
(Setters), Hossam Shaarawy, Mohamed ElSayed, Mohamed Seif El
Nasr, (Centre blockers), Saleh Fathy, Mahmoud Mansour, Aly
Elian, Mohamed Badawy (Left attackers), Mohamed Gabl, Mohamed El
Daabosy (Opposites), Wael El Aidy (Libero).
