 The defending Champions Ahly meets University of Rwanda in the opening

Cairo, Egypt, April 20, 2007-: in Presence of big sports authority led by the minister of Sports Mr. Abdoul- Rahmane Seydou, the twenty sixth Men’s Volleyball African Clubs Champions Championship will start on Saturday. The opening ceremony is going to start at 17:30 at the Palais de Sport hall in the Niger capital of Niamey.

The opening ceremony will be attended also by Control Committee President Mr. Baba Sy, SOC delegates Mr. Okba Gougam and Mr. Morakinyo, Referee Delgate Mr. Majeed Djirad, CAVB Technical Director Mrs. Howyda Mondy and Niger Volleyball Federation President Mr. Amada Sidiyane.

The opening day will feature seven Matches in the competition 4 pools as the organizers ASVB of Niger meets El Guish of Egypt in the competition pool A, the defending champions Al Ahly who has eight titles under their belt plays University of Rwanda in pool B with Bulldogs of Zimbabwe vs. University Calavi of Benin. Pool C will feature Tiko SC (Madagascar) vs. FAP of Cameroon and Mouloudia of Algeria vs. Defense of Ethiopia and in pool D Port Douala of Cameroon vs. Inter club of Congo Brazzaville and GSU of Kenya vs. Cement of Ethiopia.

The competition will show 15 teams competing for the title led the Al Ahly the record holder of this competition, Mouloudia the last competition bronze medalists and the usual big favorites FAP and Port of Cameroon as well as the new forces GSU of Kenya and University of Rwanda.

In the drawing of lots these teams were divided into 4 pools each with four teams except pool A which include three teams.

Pool Composition:

Pool A: ASVB (Niger)- El Guish (Egypt)- Ahly (Libya)

Pool B: Ahly (Egypt)- University (Rwanda)- University Calavi (Benin)

Pool C: Mouloudia (Algeria)- FAP (Cameroon)- Defense forces (Ethiopia)- Tiko (Madagascar).

Pool D:Port (Cameroon)- Inter Club (Congo Brazzaville)- GSU (Kenya)- Cement (Ethiopia).
