The match was interesting due to the strong competition between both teams bur we are happy to win the match in straight sets. I mad a critical sustitutuion in the third set replacing the setter so we couls win the set and the match. I tried to play with the some young players to give them the experience in such big competitions. The stars of my team in the match were Catherine Wanjiru, Lydiah Maiyo and the setter Judith Serenge.
Sonel Head Coach, Joseph Nane Eone:
It was a difficult match against a strong opponent because most of my players lack the international experience. We improved in the second and third sets because my players get used to play against such big teams. I think we will improve in the coming matches. Press Conference:
Al Ahly Head Coach, Raouf Abdel Kader:

This match was the most important for us in our pool so we played to win in order not to meet Piplines in the semifinal. Our tactics in this match depended on using the service to prevent the opponent from good reception and use the tall players by the net so we succeeded to do it. I congratulate Yosra Abdel Karim for her high performance in the match although she played as a spiker not in her original position as a setter and also the great performance of the team captain Tahani Tosson.
KC Bank Head Coach, Paul Bitok:
The match was very exciting due to the big number of stars in both teams but we lost because most of my players don’t have enough experience. The period which inverted the match was when we were leading and Al Ahly player no. 14 (Hagar Badr) had five successive services to turn the first set and after that Al Ahly completely led the match. Also one of the main points of Ahly dominance was the great confidence of the players all through the match.

We started the match poorly due to the effort the players did in the yesterday’s match against Al Ahly and we needed sometimes to come to the match. My setter Rodah and middle blocker Jackline Barasa managed to play the main role in this victory which makes us near a semifinal spot. I tried to use some of the substitutes at the end of the match to give them the chance and bring them again to the competition. I will use the next match to enter my players more to the competition.
Motemba Pembe Head Coach, Mawa Vicky: Today we had a psychological problem before the match because the players didn’t take their money so they stayed up to 2 a.m. without sleeping. Mafolofolo Coach, Kabo Ntshinogang:
I didn’t expect from my team to play without energy like that but it is normal to lose against such strong teams. We are looking forwards now to meet Sonel in the semifinal to continue our way to the cup.
Motemba Pembe Head Coach, Vicky Mawa:
My team played this match with high motivations because the victory could put us in the semis. We had good block and spikes but we lost many points in reception because of the frequent mistakes from our libero. I think Nzazi, Bofeyi and Makengo were the best stars on my team today.

My team started the match very relaxed and this allowed our opponent to enter the match, but after they felt danger of losing they played well and proof their consistency. V. Citizens Head Caoch, Jean Claude Douce:
We started the match aggressively because we know that we have to win in straight sets to qualify to semis, but we lost the critical points in the first set after we draw 24-24 by silly mistakes. I think we left this competition with a very positive achievement through playing with the big teams in the continent because our players in Mauritius don’t have the opportunity to play big matches in the local league.

KC Bank started the fourth set with high spirit and used the strong weapons Dorice Muyekho and Ednah Rotch to penetrate Pipelines block and lead 16-12. Pipelines lost their concentration and allowed KC Bank players to use their mistakes and win the set 25-16 in 21 minutes.
KC Bank started the fourth set with the same rhythm as the setter Lyali Rodah worked well with the spikers Jackline, Doris Balanga and Ednah so they led 16-12 before Pipelines coach made substitutions of the setter to play with Janet Wanja and also returned Catherine to the field so they came near 18-15 before KC Bank ended the set 25-20 in 27 minutes of exciting volleyball to extend the match to tiebreak.
In the tiebreak KC Bank players were more active in both defensive and offensive skills specially the block of Jackline and Ednah so they shifted the court with 8-6 mark before they used their strong attackers Dorice, jackline and Balanga to win the tiebreak 15-9 and the match 3-2.
Press Conference:
KC Bank Head Coach Paul Bitok:
I motivated my players before the match by an indirect way by telling them that we already sure of getting the bronze medal which is our ojective and now we are looking to play a good match and proof our consistency. So I told them to keep relaxed all through the match and this happened. Also we depend mainly on our attackers because we have weak defense so when we used our weapon in the third and fourth sets and Tie break we achieved our goals and won the difficult match.
Pipelines Head Coach David Lungaho:
We lost our concentration completely after we were leading 2-0 in sets and my players failed to come back to the match. We missed many points through reception which is our advantage while as they improved their reception a lot to pick the critical points of the match.
Match No. 17: 3rd and 4th positions
Pipelines (Kenya) vs. Mafolofolo (Botswana)

The Defending Champions Pipelines of Kenya saved their good image when they pulled of an easy victory over Mafolofolo in straight sets 25-10, 25-7, 25-10 in 46 minutes to win the Bronze Medal leaving Mafoflofolo in the fourth position.
Pipeline started the match disappointed after they lost the title they won in the last two competitions, so they allowed Mafolofolo to enter the match. After the Kenyan team led 8-6 with a group of spikes from Esther Jepkosgei and Emily Chemutai, Mafolofolo reached the draw 8-8 before Pipelines entered the match actively using the weak backline defense of their opponent to win the set widely 25-10 in 14 minutes. In the second set Pipelines found it more easyto dominate the set through the experienced stars Catherine Wanjiru and Asha Makuto. They used the undisciplined defense of Mafolofolo behind the blockers to lead 8-3 and 16-6 before they ended the set 25-7 in 16 minutes. Mafolofolo setter Mahupela Celebogile tried to use her spikers Tshwanelo Boitumelo and Tshepo Serwe, but the Kenyan block was solid enough to control the net till Pipelines led 16-7. Again Pipelines players used their well known service and the good front line spikers to win the third set easily 25-10 in 16 Minutes
Press Conference:
Pipelines Head Coach, David Lungaho: The Competition was very tough and included many strong teams. Although we came to win the trophy I’m not sad of losing the title because it is the sport every competition there is a winner and losers. The evaluation of this participation indicates that we have to give the chance to the junior players who will be our future. I think I will depend on them in the same competition next year.Mafolofolo Head Coach, Kabo Ntshinogang: I’m happy with the outcome of this competition as the fourth position was beyond our expectations. Before coming here our objective was to play for the fifth position, but now we are looking forwards for regular participation in African competitions to maintain this Rhythm. In my opinion Dipolelo Nkele was the best and the most promising in my team

Match No. 18: Final
Al Ahly (Egypt) vs. KC Bank (Kenya)

The emerging KC Bank team of Kenya entered the top of the podium for the first time in history in the African club competition beating A Ahly of Egypt in a thriller five setter match 3-2 (15-25, 28-26, 25-13, 9-25, 17-15) in more than two hours of exciting volleyball. To win the first African Cup
Al Ahly started the match actively using the strong spikes of Tahani Tosson and Noran Maghawry to lead 8-5. They used the weak defense and the disturbed reception of KC Bank team to lead 16-9 before they ended the set 25-15 in 23 minutes. KC Bank started the second set with a different pictureas the coach of the team changed the rotation position of the team to coop with the strong Ahly servers so they led 8-5 with strong spikes of Ednah Rotch and Jackline Barasa. The team used some reception mistakes from Al Ahly to continue leading 16-11. Al Ahly regained their performance with Sherihan Sameh and Noran spikes and the block of Tahani and Mona Adly to draw 23-23 and 24-24 and had the set point twice before there was a spike from Tahani and the referee took a decision that she touched the attack line while being a back row player to allow KC Bank to lead 27-26. When she showed dissent to the referee decision he gave her a yellow card and a point for KC Bank to win the exciting set 28-26 in 34 minutes. The last ball of the second set disturbed Ahly players in the third set so they missed many reception points which allow KC Bank to lead 8-1. Doris Balanga did her best in spiking from position 2 to allow KC Bank to continue leading 16-11. Al Ahly tried to save the set but they fell in many mistakes to allow KC Bank to win the set 25-13 in 21 minutes after a group of successful spikes from Barasa and Balanga to lead 2-1 in sets. Press Conference:

KC Bank Head Coach, Paul Bitok:
I’m very happy to start my job as a coach last year with the bronze medal in the same competition and to get the gold this year. I did a proper rotation for my players to adjust the reception against the characteristic service of Ahly players so I decreased the value of this service in the critical time of the matches. I thank my players Doris Balanga, the libero Oba Kozue and the young spiker Mercy Moim with their excellent performance all through the competition and also Jackline and Rotch in reception and blocking. Al Ahly Head Coach, Raouf Abdel Kader: I think the referee decision in the second set was very critical to my team as he didn’t count a point for Ahly and give a point to KC Bank which was reflected negatively to my team all through the match after that and instead of leading by two sets to zero we became 1-1. The referee also made many reverse decisions which affected directly the result. I think we played well today except in the third set and I greet my players for their performance all through the competition although
we had more than 50% of the team under 19 years
