Successful beach Volleyball Clinic in Cairo organized by CAVB
Cairo, Egypt, April 12, 2007-: It is actually a big success that Africa started in the sound way the future of beach volleyball through the highly successful beach volleyball clinic hosted in Heliopolis Sherouq Club in Cairo, Egypt organized by the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) under supervision of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The clinic showed a condensed participation of 60 participants from 20 African countries including Players, coaches, officials and National Federations’ Representatives.
The clinic was transmitted by two TV Channels, the Egyptian Channel 1 and the Nile Sports Channel (NSC) as well as many newspapers that expressed the importance of this clinic to implement the continental beach volleyball activity as decided by CAVB Board of Administration in 2006.
The clinic included a theoretical part instructed by the FIVB expert Mr. Jeff Brehaut from England who had daily lectures on the rules of the beach and the history of the sport since its start till it reached to the top in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens when it leads all the sports in the number of TV Viewers.
The practical part was conducted by the FIVB instructor Richard Amon from USA who had practical lectures on a beach volleyball court.
The opening ceremony was attended by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani who expressed his happiness to start the continental activity of the sport with this clinic which will pave the way to start the African tours in many African countries before establishing the continental ranking in 2007.
CAVB Starts the First Ever Beach Volleyball Clinic in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt, April 10, 2007-: The first ever Beach volleyball clinic organized by African volleyball confederation CAVB
will start on Wednesday in Heliopolis Sherouq club in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday in presence of big number of participants including coaches, Organizers and National Federations officials in the actual implementation of the continental activity of the sport which will feature the first ever Beach volleyball circuits in 2007, followed by establishing beach volleyball
ranking in Africa.The course will by directed by the FIVB expert Mr. Jeff Brehaut from England and instructed by the FIVB instructor Richard Emon from USA in presence of Egyptian Beach Volleyball head coach Mr. Mamdouh Hassan as CAVB technical advisor and Mr. Sherif Elshemerly as the course assistant.
The course will involve both technical and organization aspects to help the national federations to enhance their local
tours in a professional way and to have the opportunity to organize the continental circuits and also to help the new coaches to get more information about the skills of the sport.
Niger launch the first local Beach volleyball Activity
Niamey, Niger, February 1-: Niger Volleyball federation (FENIVOLLEY) launched the first Beach Volleyball activity in the country through the organization of the first Beach Volleyball competition at Hippodrome international in the capital Niamey which show the participation of all the eight zones of the country. This competition comes a year after the Beach volleyball course held in March 2005. The federation arranged Niamey beach to be similar to Copacabana Beach in Brazil with six courts.
In Men’s competition 9 teams participated where AS. Zigui achieved the cup claiming 2-1 victory over Spoung. Jica Niamey won the Women’s competition achieving 2-0 victory over Etoiles of Niamey.
In the margin of the competition Niger Volleyball arranged a big festival of volleyball in schools with participation of 465 young school pupils (333 boys and 132 girls). Many games were held between those pupils in the form of one against one, two vs. two and three vs. three. At the end of this festival 14 level II coaches received their certificates after they passed the course in June 2005.
This tournament comes as one of the achievements of the newly elected Board of FENIVOLLEY in August 2005 for a new mandate of four years under the presidency of Sidiyane Amada
Beach Volleyball Course in Senegal
The active Senegal development centre will host again a new course, this time beach Volleyball course 12-16 June in the Development Centre in Dakar, Senegal under supervision of FIVB.
Twenty participants will attend the course instructed by the FIVB instructor, Mr. Max Meier. The course will include items for the players and others for the technicians.
This is the second course in Senegal after the Coaches course held last month.
The president of Senegal Development Centre Mr. Baba Sy stated that he is happy to see this course running to help Africa to go through this branch of volleyball and to develop this sport in the continent.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOUR « FIVB Challenge » IN MOROCCO
In a new push for African Beach Volleyball towards World level, Moroccan Volleyball Federation will organize a Beach Volleyball Tournament « FIVB Challenge » from 23 to 25 July 2004 in Casablanca – Morocco.
The Organizers put a prize money of 10 000 US Dollars for the competition which is considered the second biggest tour in the continent after that held in Cape Town, South Africa last March.
CAVB asked the National Federations for a big participation to widespread this sport in many African countries. The registration deadline is 9th July 2004.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL COARSE IN BENIN
Benin will host An International Beach Volleyball Coarse under supervision of FIVB in SAP Programme. The coarse will be held in Cotonou 10-17 October 2003 and the Portuguese Avelino Azevedo will be the Instructor. This Coarse will be the actual start of the activity of this volleyball category in Benin. Beach volleyball is expected to emerge rapidly in Benin in the comming few years as the members of the Benin National Volleyball Federation put their interest to develop this sport.News by Ali S.
