Commission and Beach volleyball meeting
The African League is a new revolution for CAVB in 2010
Cairo, Egypt, December 15, 2009- The African Volleyball
Confederation (CAVB) Sports Organizing committee will start an
important meeting in the CAVB Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt on
Wednesday for an important mission to implement the new African
competition system that had been adopted during the 2009 CAVB
Congress in Algeria last September.
One of the most important items in the agenda is to put the new
formula of the qualification for the African Nations
Championship at the senior, junior or youth level that aims
mainly at increasing the number of participating teams through
the zonal and regional tournaments. The meeting will also
discuss the new system proposed by the CAVB President Dr. Amr
Elwani to establish the African League for the African National
teams in a home and away system.
The meeting will present also the new competition under the name
Baba Sy who is one of the African volleyball Legends who did a
lot for the continental and World volleyball.
SOC will study also the applications to host the CAVB
competitions in 2010 and 2011 and the new wording of the CAVB
competition regulations.
On the beach volleyball side the agenda is condensed with a lot
of items mainly the proposal for the African qualifications to
the 2012 Olympic Games. Also the regulations of the club Beach
volleyball tours will be put in order. The Beach Volleyball
refereeing courses and clinics at the zonal level will be
determined in an attempt to increase the beach volleyball
activity.
“We hope to have fruitful discussion during this decisive
meeting to increase our activity on an equal foot with the other
contents after the African team achieved many victories at the
world level,” said CAVB president Dr. Amr Elwani who will
conduct the meeting. “The African League and the new system of
qualifications of the Nations Championship will be a revolution
for the African volleyball as it was supported a lot when it was
presented during the 2009 CAVB Congress.” He added. |
