Zone III General Assembly:
Elwani presided the meeting as he declared the new CAVB
Development plan and the technical support
Ouagadougou,
Burkina Faso, March 18, 2009- CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani
presided the opening of the General Assembly of Zone III meeting
held at the zone headquarter here at Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by representatives of six
countries as well as most of Zone III Board of Administration
and Burkina Volleyball Federation FBVB Executive members. The
local main TV channel as well as most of the local daily
newspapers covered the event.
The meeting was attended also by Zone III sponsor Major Gilbert
Diendere who promised more support of Zone III activities
according to the ambitious program that was put during the
meeting, the technical consultant of the Burkina Ministry of
Sport Vincent Tankoano, Zone III President Sawadogo and the
representatives of Mali, Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso,
Nigeria and Togo National Federations.
In his speech during the opening ceremony Dr. Elwani asked the
members of the zone to increase their activities and to build up
their plan to receive the technical and financial support from
both FIVB and CAVB. He mentioned the new strategy of CAVB
according to the general development plan that was approved
during the CAVB Board of Administration meeting in November
2008. At the end of the meeting Elwani gave some technical
donations of nets, Balls and uniforms to each participating
National Federation. He also honored the main sponsor Diendere,
the ministry of sports representative Vincent Tankoano and FBVB
President with the highest order of CAVB. “We want to push the
National Federations of category 1 and 2 to improve and the
support will be parallel to their activity and participation in
the continental competitions,” He said. “We also want to thank
the great support from the World volleyball governing body
(FIVB) under the presidency of Mr. Wei.”
Major Gilbert Diendere expressed his gratitude to the efforts
done by CAVB president to promote the sport in the continent and
promised that he will support all the plans done by Zone III
through the development plan proposed at the headquarters in
Ouagadougou.
The representative of Burkina Ministry of sport promised to give
more support to FBVB and the headquarters of Zone III as he
thanked Dr. Elwani for the great work and the strategic plan he
put for the African volleyball.
CAVB president had side talks with each of the national
federation representatives to solve their problems and put their
activity on tract according to the CAVB general plan.
