Final
Egypt Men and Algeria Women Gold Medalists

 Blida, Algeria, July 22, 2007-: Egypt men’s volleyball team and Algeria Women became the 2007 All Africa Games Gold medalists following their victory in the finals over Tunisia and Cameroon respectively here at Moustafa Tchaker hall in Blida, Algeria on Sunday.  Egypt men took the revenge from Tunisia after they lost against that team in the pool match, as the Egyptian defended their title achieved in Abuja 2003 and defeated their arc rivals in a fantastic final.
 Algeria women team succeeded to add their second ever volleyball women gold medal at the women’s category when they clinched a respected victory over the emerging Cameroon team. The gold medal for Algeria was the second after they had got the same in the third all Africa games at their homelands also in 1978.
 In the bronze medal matches Kenya men lost the chance of bringing up the first ever African Men’s medal and lost narrowly against the organizers Algeria. The Kenyan women won the bronze medal easily when they defeated the new comers Seychelles.
 The final matches were attended by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani, CAVB Vice presidents, Mr. Tubby Reddy, Mr. Luis Timba, Mr. Baba Sy and Algerian Federation President Mr. Okba Gougam.
Men’s Competition
 Egypt succeeded to keep the gold medal of All Africa Games at home as they swept Tunisia 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19) in 89 minutes. Tunisia started by the strong spike service of the setter Seifeddine Lemjid to lead 3-0, but quickly started to arrange their reception and they build up the attacks to draw and then lead 8-6 at the FTT through the effective spikes from the Egyptian opposite Ahmed Salah. Tunisia started to use the wing spiker Khalid Belaid in his spikes from position 4 and thus they came near again till the draw 17-17. When the teams reached the draw 21-21, Tunisian coach pushed the good server Sami Sellami who served four spikes that ended the set for Tunisia 25-21.  
 In the second set Egypt arranged again their reception and the setter Abdalla Abdel Salam started to distribute his setting in all net positions and that was used by the team captain Hamdy El Safi and Ahmed Salah efficiently till Egypt led 8-5 at the FTT. The Tunisian wing spiker Khalid Belaid did a good job in spiking from position 4, but soon the Egyptian block of Hossam Shaarawy and that allowed Egypt to lead 16-11 at the STT. Egypt arranged their backline defense against the Tunisian attacks and through the strong spikes of Saleh Fathy they comfortably won the set 25-16.
Semifinal
Classic derby between Egypt and Tunisia in the Men’s final, Algeria- Cameroon in the Women’s
 Blida, Algeria, July 21, 2007-: The final of men’s volleyball competition of All Africa games will be a classic one between the two big compatriots Egypt and Tunisia, while the final of the women’s will feature the organizers Algeria meeting the coming big force Cameroon after the semifinal matches of the ninth All Africa Games here at Moustafa Tchaker hall in Blida, Algeria on Saturday. Egypt meets Tunisia on Sunday in the Men’s final, while Cameroon plays Algeria in the Women’s final. Algeria men play Kenya for the bronze medal, while Kenya meets Seychelles for the women’s bronze.
 Egypt men defeated the organizers Algeria in the competition’s most exciting match that made more than 7000 spectators on their toes for more than 8 hours of exciting volleyball. Tunisia made it to final after another exciting game against the coming new force Kenya to make another derby between Egypt and Tunisia in the final.
 Algeria women put the cheer on the fasces of the big crowd by their victory over the African champions Kenya to qualify to the final with the newcomers Cameroon who defeated Seychelles.

 Day 5

Egypt and Tunisia men, Kenya and Seychelles women complete the semifinal slots

 Blida, Algeria, July 19, 2007-: The big two continental forces Tunisia and Egypt men teams as well as Kenya and Seychelles women teams joined the host teams Algeria, men and women as well as Cameroon women and Kenya men to the semifinal of the Men’s and women’s volleyball competition of the ninth All Africa Games here at both Moustafa Tchaker and Lysee Sportif halls in Blida, Algeria at the end of the preliminary round on Thursday.

 In men’s competition Algeria and Kenya qualified form Pool A, while pool B presented Tunisia and Egypt as semifinal qualifiers. In Women’s competition Algeria and Seychelles qualified from pool A, and Cameroon and Kenya secured the semifinal spot in Pool B.

 Day 4

Algeria Men and Women to Semifinal Spot, Cameroon women the big surprise

 Blida, Algeria, July 18, 2007-: the host teams Algeria, men and women as well as Cameroon women and Kenya men secured their semifinal tickets in Men’s and women’s categories at the end of the fourth day of the volleyball competition of the ninth All Africa Games here at both Moustafa Tchaker and Lysee Sportif halls in Blida, Algeria on Wednesday. The rest four semifinal slots in both men and women competitions will be determined in the final day of the preliminary round on Thursday with the matches of South Africa vs. Seychelles, Kenya vs. Egypt and Tunisia vs. Cameroon on the spot to determine the last two tickets in Women’s category, while the defending champions of the men‘s competition, Egypt needs a victory over Senegal to secure the last Men’s ticket and wait for the result of Tunisia vs. Cameroon.
