Congo women team set the only withdrawal

Blida, Algeria, July 14, 2007-: Congo Brazzaville women team set the only withdrawal in the volleyball competition of the ninth All Africa Games which will be opened on Saturday 14th of July here at both Moustafa Tchaker and Lysee Sportif halls in Blida, Algeria. The competition control committee presided by CAVB first Vice- President Mr. Tubby Reddy decided during the technical meeting on Friday to start the competition with 5 teams in Pool A of Women’s competition while Pool B will comprise 6 teams.

CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani asked all the teams to use the fair play and to apply strictly all the FIVB rules of the game during the competition which is the biggest ever in the history of All Africa games where volleyball constitutes an important cornerstone in the Programme of the Multi sports competition.

“We want to show the spectators of all the sports that volleyball is the best sport in terms of fair play,” Said CAVB President. “We have also to show how the African volleyball has become now after the great steps we went in the last few years at the world level.” He added.

The programme of the first day will feature 11 matches on the opening day in both men and women categories
