CAVB Congress starts with wide support to the FIVB and Great Unity


Nairobi, Kenya, October 26, 2007-: The 2007 CAVB Ordinary congress Presided by Dr. Amr Elwani sends the full support to Both the FIVB President Dr. Ruben Acosta and the FIVB Constitutions and General Regulations in the opening day of the meeting held at the Red Court Hall in Nairobi, Kenya on Friday. In Presence of the guest of honor, the Kenya Commissioner of Sport Mr. Gordon Oluoch, Elwani opened the meeting in presence of a Quorum of 33 countries and the meeting started by the FIVB Anthem.

The attendance clapped for the full declaration of all the attending countries their loyalty to the world governing body FIVB.

Dr. Elwani showed during CAVB Activity Report presentation the great progress in the African competitions during the last two years regarding the increase of the competing teams and the high standard of the African competitions specially what showed the Men’s and Women’s African Nations championships qualifying to the World cup in Japan. Elwani invited the Kenyan Women team to the meeting hall as they were received by a strong ovation from the attendance.

The Congress also approved the financial report presented by the CAVB Vice president Eng. Habu Gumel and the Finance Director Ahmed Elsherif. The congress asked the CAVB Executive committee and Board to increase the activity of attracting the sponsors to support the Ambitious Programme of development all over the continent.

The CAVB Technical Director Howyda Mondy Presented in details the African competitions held since the last congress in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt 2005 and pointed out the great improvement of the African teams’ representation in the FIVB competitions during the last two year specially Egypt during the Grand Champions Cup in 2005 and Tunisia in the World Championship in 2006.
