Successful International Referee Candidate course in Libya

Tripoli, Libya, April 30, 2007 – The National Volleyball Federation of Libya organized a big International Referee Candidate course in Tripoli during April 3 – April 12 with the support of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the Libyan Olympic Committee . The theoritical part was held in the Olympic Centre in Tripoli which is well equipped with all the material needed for volleyball courses, while the practical part was in the hall of Ahly club which has a capacitance of 5.000 spectators. The course attracted the particiation of 20 candidates, among them 3 female and representatives from three continents, Africa, Asia and Europe. The countries represented were Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon, and Congo (Africa), Russia (Europe), India, Syria and United Arab Emirates (Asia). The opening and closure ceremony were attended by Libya Olympic Committee President and all members as well as Libya Volleyball Federation President Dr. Gamal El Zarouk and the Course organizing Committee President Dr. Aied El Mosraty.

The FIVB instructors Mr. Hassan Mohammed (EGY) and Mr. Sergei Titov (RUS) were extremely pleased with the conditions and for interest the course generated. "We are happy to see this interest from the Libyan volleyball federation and all the participants in the course," Said Mr. Hassan Ahmed. "We hope that the referees grduated from that course apply what they know in the course and I'm sure that we will have many prominent referees in the near future." He added.

Two Libyan TV stations broadcasted news from the course and the printed media also published many news on the foreign visitors.
