2007 Men's African Clubs Champions Championship- Niamey- Niger

Al Ahly of Egypt achieved the local double before defending their title

Cairo, Egypt, April 15, 2007-: The famous Ah Ahly Men's volleyball team of Egypt succeeded to achieve the local Egyptian double when they won the Egyptian league in Cairo Stadium complex on Saturday to add itto the local cup they achieved two weeks ago. They defeated their compatriots Zamalek in the League final match before their departure on Wednesday to defend their title in the 2007 African Clubs Champions championship to be held in Niamey, Niger 19-28 July.

Ahly players became more motivated to participate in the big African championship after they achieved the local double for the second year in a raw. The final against Zamalek was exciting although Ahly won in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-19) in the match that lasts 80 minutes.

Beside the crown Ahly players had three individual prizes as the experienced star Hamdy El Safy won the MVP Cup and Ahmed Salah was chosen as the best spiker and Wael El Aidy as the best libero.

"I'm happy to win the cup and the league three days before our important participation in the African club championship," Said Ahly head coach Nour Attia after the final match. "We are now ready to achieve a record of competitions in one season if we won the African championship as we had now the Egyptian double as well as the Arab cup of clubs champions. Now we are thinking of our fourth title in 2006- 2007 season
