Africa started in the sound way the future of beach volleyball
through the highly successful beach volleyball clinic hosted in
Heliopolis Sherouq Club in Cairo, Egypt organized by the African
Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) under supervision of the
International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The clinic showed a
condensed participation of 60 participants from 20 African

Federations’ Representatives.
The clinic was transmitted by two TV Channels, the Egyptian

newspapers that expressed the importance of this clinic to
implement the continental beach volleyball activity as decided
by CAVB Board of Administration in 2006.
The clinic included a theoretical part instructed by the
FIVB
expert Mr. Jeff Brehaut from England who had daily lectures on
the rules of the beach and the history of the sport since its
start till it reached to the top in the 2004 Olympic Games in
Athens when it leads all the sports in the number of TV Viewers.

Amon from USA who had practical lectures on a beach volleyball
court.
The opening ceremony was attended by CAVB President Dr. Amr
Elwani who expressed his happiness to start the continental
activity of the sport with this clinic which will pave the way
to start the African tours in many African countries before
establishing the continental ranking in 2007.
“We are happy to have these experienced instructors in this
clinic as we have to use their long experience to provide us
with the right way to push the sport forwards.” Said Elwani
Mr.
Jeff Brehaut expressed his satisfaction with the standard of the
clinic participants in a TV interview done in the court of the
practical session. “I don’t find a cause that Africa does not
exist in the World level beach volleyball competition till now.
The African players have all the capabilities to be world class
players in beach competition and they only have to start in the
right way. I’m happy to instruct in this first ever beach clinic
in African history which will be put in the historic calendar of
the sport.
The FIVB instructor Richard Amon saw that the practical sessions
was very serious specially for the coaches who can now lead
their countries and copy what they learn to other coaches. He
showed the participants the proper way of performing the
different skills and the tactics of the sport.
