CAVB Starts the First Ever Beach Volleyball Clinic in Cairo
Cairo, Egypt, April 10, 2007-: The first ever Beach volleyball clinic organized by African volleyball confederation CAVB
will start on Wednesday in Heliopolis Sherouq club in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday in presence of big number of participants including coaches, Organizers and National Federations officials in the actual implementation of the continental activity of the sport which will feature the first ever Beach volleyball circuits in 2007, followed by establishing beach volleyball
ranking in Africa.The course will by directed by the FIVB expert Mr. Jeff Brehaut from England and instructed by the FIVB instructor Richard Amon from USA in presence of Egyptian Beach Volleyball head coach Mr. Mamdouh Hassan as CAVB technical advisor and Mr. Sherif Elshemerly as the course assistant.
The course will involve both technical and organization aspects to help the national federations to enhance their local
tours in a professional way and to have the opportunity to organize the continental circuits and also to help the new coaches to get more information about the skills of the sport.
The four days course will be held under supervision of the CAVB Beach volleyball commission headed by Mr. Abdel Razak Allam from Morocco.
The clinic will be opened on Wednesday by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani and then the first day of the course will include both theoretical and practical parts in the newly established beach volleyball courts in Heliopolis Club.
The course director Mr. Jeff Brehaut is considered one of the most experienced FIVB Beach Volleyball instructors as well as a referee delegate and technical supervisor of Many FIVB World Tours all over the world. He is also a member of European volleyball confederation (CEV) referee and beach volleyball commissions.
The course instructor Mr. Richard Amon is one of the famous beach volleyball instructors in both USA and his original
country Puerto Rico. He was a former beach volleyball player and the technical director of the first International Beach
volleyball course in Kuwait. He is also the director of the Volleyball RAGS academy in Puerto Rico that teaches the children the essentials of beach volleyball activity.
"This Beach volleyball clinic will help us to implement our beach volleyball activity in a professional way and this will be
a good start for our competition in 2007," Said CAVB president Dr. Elwani before attending the final of the Women's African Clubs Champions Championship in Cairo on Tuesday. "This activity will reflect back positively to our sport in the next few years especially in the beach competitions which will allow our players to compete at the World class competitions." He
added.
