2007 All Africa Games- Qualifications Zone 5, Day Four:

Sudan defeated Rwanda in a Thriller Tiebreak


Khartoum, Sudan, March 28, 2007-: The organizers Sudan Men’s Volleyball team waited more than 2 hours to cheer their fans after they defeated Rwanda in a thriller five set match made the fans on their toes all through its action. Kenya team continued the winning rhythm and defeated Uganda in straight sets in the fourth day of Zone 5 qualifications to All Africa Games held at Khartoum, Sudan on Tuesday. Sudan and Kenya lead the qualification before their match together on Wednesday which determines the winner of this tournament. The winner will secure a ticket in the finals of Men’s competition of All Africa Games in Algeria 11-24 July 2007.

The match between Sudan and Rwanda was the best in the competition especially in the tiebreak won by the home team after their supporters reached to the peak of excitement.

The Kenyan Men’s team having the hopes of achieving the double qualifications after their women counterparts already qualified last weak to the finals of the 9th All Africa games , achieved an easy victory over Uganda in straight sets in only an jour.

By the end of the competition fourth day Sudan and Kenya lead the table of the five nations’ one round robin tour with 6 points from three victories. Their match will determine the winner of the tournament

It is well known that the finals of All Africa Games will comprise 12 teams in each category which will be the seven champions of the zones, the best three ranked teams in the last competition in Abuja, Nigeria (Egypt, Cameroon and South Africa in Men; and Egypt, Kenya and Cameroon in Women) as well as the previous (Nigeria) and coming (Algeria) organizers.
