Algeria: Qualifications:
Ghana Men and Women Volleyball teams represent Zone 3
Niamey,
Niger, March 20, 2007-: Ghanamen and women volleyball teams will
represent African Zone 3 in the finals
of the 9th All African Games in Alger, Algeria 13-24 July 2007
following their victories in the zonal qualification
held at Niamey, Niger. The qualification showed participation of
three teams in both genders including the organizers Niger,
Ghana and Togo.
The matches attended by big number of home crowed to encourage
the local teams before the country organize the African Clubs
Champions Championship in Niamey 19-28 April 2007 which will
feature a record of participating teams. Ghana defeated Niger in
the Women’s category in straight sets 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-11)
while their Men’s counterparts defeated the organizers also 3-0
(25-18, 25-20, 25-16).
South Africa and Botswana Men’s team previously qualified to the
prestigious African event early this month in Zone 6
qualifications held in Walvis Bay, Namibia with the South
African Women’s team.
It is well known that the finals of All Africa Games will
comprise 12 teams in each category which will be the seven
champions of the zones, the best three ranked teams in the last
competition in Abuja, Nigeria as well as the previous
(Nigeria) and coming (Algeria) organizers.
