2006 CAVB Board of Administration Meeting- Cairo, Egypt:
Implementation of Beach Continental Competitions and Zonal Activities, the main Points on Discussion table

Cairo, Egypt, September 8-: The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Executive Committee will meet in Cairo, Egypt on September 10 followed by the board of Administration on 11 and 12 September headed by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani to discuss important subjects in both management, technical and financial aspects. The meeting will discuss the Continental competitions in the next four years in both National and Club levels aiming to increase the area of participating teams to involve all zones of Africa.

The meeting will negotiate some proposals to modify the system of the Nations Championships to involve zonal qualification for the nearby countries to increase the number of the participating teams and decrease the costs of transportation. These proposals may start at the senior level before being applied to the age categories.

From the technical point of view, CAVB will discuss the establishment of more development courses using the usual support of the FIVB in many programmes specially the new Volleyball Cooperation programme (VCP) which replaced the last Sports Aid Programme (SAP) and encouraging the NFs to organize more coaches and referee courses.

CAVB will also discuss the importance of having more sponsors and increase marketing of the African competitions to help the development programmes in the continent. The board will use the experience of some countries which succeeded to start the sponsorship in their local competitions.

Beach Volleyball will have a big part of discussions especially after the big success of South Africa in hosting one of the SWATCH- FIVB world tours which is considered the highest level of the sport in the world and also the good organization of the FIVB Satellite Beach Volleyball Championship in Morocco in the last few years. The board will discuss the implementation of the last proposal of starting with continental competitions on the club level to increase the participating teams before shifting to the national level.

"We are looking forwards to use the great progress of our beloved sport in the last few years to do more work and use the increasing support of the FIVB and its president Rubén Acosta," Said CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani. "We had many aspects to improve after we succeeded at the World level competitions specially the participation in the FIVB World League for the first time in 2006 and we want to appear in good performance during the next World Championship in Japan which will feature five African teams in both genders for the first time in history." He added.
