Final Day:Tunisia
Achieves the double qualifications to the World
Championships
Tizi-Ouzu, Algeria, August 27-: Tunisia Girls
followed the steps of their Boys counterparts
and qualified to the 2007 Girls U 18 World
Championship when they defeated South Africa in
straight sets in the third and final day of the
eighth Girls under 18 African Nations
Championship on Saturday at Tezroet Said hall in
Tizi-Ouzu, Algeria. Tunisia boys Under 19
already had qualified early this week to the
World championship.
The defending champions, Egypt ended the
competition in the second position following
their second victory over the organizers,
Algeria who came third before South Africa which
came at the bottom of the table.
The Tunisian Girls showed again their good face
and secured their World championship slot in
less than an hour in front of the struggling
South African team who came with little
experience to prepare a team for the future.
Tunisia won 3-0 using their dominance on the net
action through their good Solid block and
efficient spikes.
The defending champions, Egypt clinched their
competition second victory over Algeria 3-0. The
Egyptian girls played the match with fewer
motivations after Tunisia secured the trophy
before the match.
Tunisia won the cup with six points from three
victories out of three matches, while Egypt
comes in the second position with two victories
and one defeat ahead of Algeria which came third
with one victory and one defeat, and then South
Africa comes at the bottom of the standings.
Day Two:
Tunisia one more step towards the World
Championship
Tizi-Ouzu, Algeria, August 26-: Tunisia cut one
more step towards the 2007 Girls U 18 World
Championship when they defeated Algeria in
straight sets in the second day of the eighth
Girls under 18 African Nations Championship on
Friday at Tezroet Said hall in Tizi-Ouzu,
Algeria. The defending champions, Egypt clinched
their first victory over South Africa.
The highly motivated Tunisian Girls needed less
than an hour to defeat the organizers, Algeria
3-0 using their dominance on the net action
through their good Solid block and efficient
spikes. The victory put Tunisia at the top of
the pool with two victories in two matches.
The defending champions, Egypt clinched their
competition first victory over South Africa in
straight sets. The Egyptian girls appeared in
higher performance than their first match
against Tunisia in the opening day. Egypt comes
in the second position with one victory and one
defeat with the point’s differential ahead of
Algeria, and then South Africa comes at the
bottom of the standings.
The matches were broadcasted live in the
Algerian TV.
The competition third and final day will feature
two important matches as Tunisia meets South
Africa and if they won they will win the cup and
qualify to the World Championship while Egypt
plays Algeria.
Day One:
Tunisia upset Egypt and Algeria achieved easy
victory
Tizi-Ouzu, Algeria, August 25-: the Tunisian
girls upset the defending champions, Egypt in
the opening day of the eighth Girls under 18
African Nations Championship which started on
Thursday at Tezroet Said hall in Tizi-Ouzu,
Algeria.
The promising Tunisian team won in a thriller
five set match to became near a second World
championship vacancy after the Tunisian boys had
the slot in the 2007 Boys U- 19 World
championship last week in Kelibia, Tunisia. In
the second match the organizers, Algeria had a
straight sets victory over South Africa.
Tunisia girls did their utmost to take the
revenge from Egypt after they lost the last
competition against them in 2005. they used the
promising stars by the net to dominate the
critical parts of the match and win 3-2.
Algeria found it easy to overcome South Africa
3-0 using the support of their spectators.
The matches were broadcasted live in the
Algerian TV.
The competition second day will feature two
important matches as Tunisia meets Algeria in an
expected final while Egypt plays South Africa in
a critical face of.

Algeria, Egypt, South Africa and Tunisia compete
for World Championship spot
Tizi-Ouzu,
Algeria, August 24-: Four African teams will
compete for the second African qualifier for the
age group World Championships in the eighth
Girls under 18 African Nations Championship
which will start on Thursday in Tizi-Ouzu,
Algeria. The opening day of the competition will
feature two important clashes as Egypt meets
Tunisia in a usual big clash considered as an
early final, while Algeria plays South Africa in
Tezroet Said hall. The competition will
determine the Continental representative in the
2007 World Championship of this age category
after Tunisia already secured the first African
vacancy in the 2007 Boys U 19 World Championship
this week following their victory in the African
competition in their homelands.
Algeria comes as the most experienced teams as
their line up includes nine players who
participated in the last competition in 2005 and
had also a good preparation programme. The team
ended the last edition in the third position.
They played 8 friendly matches against Tunisia
in Tunis during the ten days camp from 1-10
August and after the early arrival of the
Tunisian team to Algeria.
The South African team had a short camp in Cairo
where they were received by CAVB President Dr.
Amr Elwani, in their way to Algeria as they
played a friendly match against Egypt and then
both teams had the same flight to Algeria and
arrived there last Wednesday. The team includes
many promising players who may lead their
country in the near future to compete at the
senior level.
The Egyptian team had a long preparation through
a local camp under supervision of the
experienced head coach, Hesham Badrawy who led
the senior Egyptian team before to qualify to
the 2002 and 2006 World Championships. They
started the preparation since the start of July
and had two camps in the Olympic Centre in Cairo
and in Ras Elbar. The team includes now four
players from the previous team who won the last
competition in Egypt, January 2005, they are
Nahla Sameh, Nada Ayman, Dina Elbetar and yomna
Tarek.
Tunisia was the first team to arrive to Algeria
as they arrived to Tizi Ouzu on August 15 and
played friendly matches against the host team.
Tunisia is a usual competitor in all the African
competitions and enter the competition to take
the revenge after they lost the last competition
against Egypt who represented the continent in
the 2005 World Championship of this age
category.
The competition will be held in a round robin
format between the four teams and the winner
will have the only African vacancy in the 2007
Girls U 18 World Championship.

will determine the Continental representative in
