African Zone I and II send a Support Message to Acosta and Approve the Development programmes
Cotonou, Benin, April 10-: In presence of representative of twelve countries, African Zone II and Zone III held a fruitful meeting in Cotonou, Benin headed by CAVB President, Dr. Amr Elwani and attended by Benin National Director of Sport Mr. Christopher Houndevi and Secretary of Sports and Culture Mr. Lougbenon.
The meeting discussed the Volleyball development plans in the western area of Africa in both technical and management aspects in presence of the representatives of Egypt, Senegal, Benin, Guinea, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Togo, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Mali, and Congo RD. The presidents of these NFs conveyed a support message to FIVB President Dr. Ruben Acosta as the only Candidate for FIVB Presidency for the continent in the coming Congress in Japan, October 2006.
Dr. Elwani made a meaningful Video presentation during the meeting which showed the FIVB support to Africa during the last five years in terms of Technical courses for Coaches, referees, VIS and Management and also the material support including balls, nets, posts and synthetic floors. He expressed that Africa had about 70% of the FIVB Financial and technical support to all the World continents.
The meeting also agreed to implement the CAVB proposal to implement the first African Beach Volleyball competition on the club level and to increase the material support to the countries of this region. The attending presidents also put a proposal of new competitions for the nearby countries of the western zones.
