African Zone 6 Appreciates the Leadership of Dr. Acosta
Gaborne, Botswana, April 2005- : The Congress of the African Zone 6 appreciated the efforts done under the leadership of FIVB President, Dr. Ruben Acosta Specially hiscontribution towards the development of the sport in Africa during its meeting in Gaborne, Botswana. The representatives of the attending eight countries anonymously declared that Dr. Ruben Acosta is the only candidate for the position of FIVB Presidency in the forthcoming FIVB Congress in Japan October 2006.The countries attending the meeting were Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland. The countries’ delegates discussed the activities of the zone in the last year including the organization of the Men’s and Women’s Senior Nations Championships held in Gaborne, Botswana 27- 31 July 2005 where Botswana won both categories as well as the Men’s and Women’s Club Championships with participation of 11 clubs. “We want to activate volleyball in our zone using the great push from both FIVB and CAVB” Said zone President, Mr. S.D. Mosweu (Botswana). “We want to go forwards through the efforts of the National Federations of the zone and also through asking CAVB to assist in the technical aspects to ensure good future” He added.
