African Clubs Champions Championship:
A Record of Participating Clubs Meet in
South Africa
Cairo, Egypt, February 15-: Durban will
be the city which may show a record of
participating teams in the 25th African
Clubs Champions Championship to be held
4- 12 March 2006. Sfax of Tunisia and Al
Ahly of Egypt come as the most famous
participating clubs between the 14 clubs
ensured their participation till now.
The 2005 defending champions, Sfax will
be a great favorite for the second time
with Al Ahly the champions of 2003 and
2004 editions after they were absent in
the last edition. The competition will
feature also the last competition Bronze
Medalist, GSU of Kenya with their
compatriots KC Bank and the big
favorites Mouloudia of Algeria. Three
clubs will represent Congo RDC; Onatra,
Negreta and Police, while Cameroon will
be represented by Port Douala in absence
of the current runner up FAP. Other
participants are Redskins of Lesotho,
CBZ Jewel of Zimbabwe, Inter club of
Congo Brazzaville, Academica De Maputo
of Mozambique along with four clubs from
South Africa.
“The competition will be one of the
strongest ever in the continent,” Said
CAVB technical director, Mrs. Howyda
Mondy. “South Africa is ready to host
this big event as it will be their first
in club level” She added. |
